GUARDIANS
PROTECT • STAND FIRM • WATCH OVER
A Christian Homeschool Football Team
More than a name. More than a mascot. A calling.
The name Guardian carries a dual meaning that speaks to both the field and the faith of every player who wears the jersey.
At its core, a guardian is a protector—one entrusted with the safety and well-being of others. On the football field, this calling comes alive in every snap. Linemen guard the quarterback. Defenders guard the end zone. Teammates guard one another’s backs through every drive, every hit, every fourth-quarter stand.
Football is, in many ways, a game of guardianship: protecting territory, protecting teammates, and protecting the goal.
For a Christian homeschool team, the name reaches deeper. A Guardian is one who stands firm—rooted in conviction, anchored in truth, unwilling to be moved when pressure mounts.
Scripture calls believers to “be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong” (1 Corinthians 16:13). The Guardian does not waver when the world pushes back. He holds the line not only against opposing offenses, but against anything that would shake what he believes.
Family, faith, brotherhood, and the integrity of the game itself. A Guardian plays with honor because he understands that what he defends is worth defending well.
A Guardian’s strength is not merely physical. It is spiritual. He plants his feet in truth and refuses to be swept by the shifting tides of culture or circumstance. His convictions are his foundation, and his foundation cannot be shaken.
A Guardian is never alone. He is part of a brotherhood that lifts each teammate up, holds each one accountable, and ensures that no one walks off the field—or through life—unguarded.
When this team takes the field as the Guardians, they are declaring something more than a mascot. They are declaring a calling: to protect, to persevere, and to play every down with the courage of those who know exactly what—and Whom—they stand for.
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
— Proverbs 4:23
The OA Guardians are an 11-man Varsity Football team rooted in Southwest Missouri and built on something bigger than the game. We compete against some of the best homeschool, private, and public school programs across Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma — and on the national stage at the National Homeschool Football Association Tournament — but winning is only part of the story.
We are a program that develops young men. Every rep, every game, and every challenge is an opportunity to grow in faith, sharpen discipline, and build the kind of character that lasts long after the final whistle.
Our coaches invest in the whole athlete — spiritually, academically, and athletically — because we believe excellence on the field starts with who you are off it.
The Guardians compete hard. We play with pride. And we do it all to honor Christ.
Commitment:
We are loyal to our teammates, our coaches, and the process of becoming better — on the field, in the classroom, and in our walk with Christ.
Integrity:
We do what is right when no one is watching. On the field, in school, and in life, we hold ourselves to a standard rooted in truth.
Pride:
We wear the Guardian name with excellence, humility, and respect — understanding that how we carry ourselves reflects something greater than ourselves.
Teamwork:
We place the success of the team above personal ambition, knowing that when we serve one another well, everyone rises.
Resilience:
We face adversity with toughness and perseverance, trusting that setbacks are not the end of the story — they are part of the process.
Humility:
We remain teachable. We value our teammates, families, and coaches, and we never let success become a reason to stop growing.
Servant Leadership:
We lead by example — through encouragement, accountability, and a willingness to put others first. True leaders serve.
To develop Christ-centered high school student-athletes across Southwest Missouri who pursue spiritual maturity, academic excellence, athletic discipline, and outstanding character.
The Southwest Missouri Guardians exists to train student-athletes to honor Christ through discipline, teamwork, and integrity; prepare athletes through intentional coaching and rigorous football development; build character rooted in truth; and establish a tradition of excellence on and off the field.
